Ashley Porter is a freelance television reporter. She also works as a writer at WHDH-TV/WLVI-TV in Boston, MA.
She recently won a National Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for Striving for Safety, about a construction safety bill that's stalled in the State House.
Ashley is also the recipient of Associated Press Awards for Investigative Reporting, Continuing Coverage (of the presidential election), and General News Reporting.
Her investigation, Hacked from the Handbook, exposed what attorneys call “a blow to academic freedom,” and forced college administrators to restore the student rights they secretly removed.
Ashley grew up in South Florida. After graduating as a communications major from Dreyfoos School of the Arts, she left the warm beaches and braved snowy Nor'easters to study broadcast journalism at Emerson College.
Ashley considers herself lucky to meet so many people and explore the issues that matter to them. You may contact her at ashley@ashleyreporter.com.
